One of the most recognizable brands in Web3 is coming to Gaia, and this is your chance to prepare for what it means for you. Let’s start with a quick overview of the Doodles Universe, just in case you’re not familiar with it.
Doodles OG Collection
The original Doodles collection is a set of 10,000 unique Ethereum-based PFPs by renown artist Burnt Toast, with hundreds of hand-drawn traits, all with a distinct pastel color palette. Not only is Doodles one of the most prominent brands in Web3, it also has a community that is as spirited as the art itself. Looking to continue expanding in order to reach mass audiences, the brand has already started to bridge the gap between digital and physical with music, IRL events, attractions, gaming, consumer products, and more. Doodles also recently acquired Golden Wolf, an Emmy-nominated animation studio, to expand into new types of content.
Doodles 2: The Possibilities Are Infinite
In addition to the OG Doodles sold-out set, the brand is now launching a Doodles 2 collection. Instead of being limited to 10,000 collectibles, Doodles 2 will include millions of unique NFT variations in the form of digital wearables. This will allow you to customize your Doodles NFTs any way you wish. Your imagination will in fact be the only limit here, as fun and singular Doodles “machinery” such as The Dooplicator (catch a peek of it in the Doodles 2 trailer) and The Genesis Box (contains rare wearables) will allow you to mix and match your Doodles with thousands of wearables, to create a customized NFT that truly represents you. The possibilities are infinite.
Reasons Doodles Chose The Flow Blockchain
The reasons the Doodles team chose the Flow blockchain for Doodles 2 are very specific. In the Twitter Space hosted today by NFT Now, Poopie (Co-Founder of Doodles) explained the strategy behind their choice:
1. Ease of use
Users can create a new wallet by signing in with their email or Gmail account. This user-friendly process, combined with the fact that collectors can buy NFTs utilizing their credit card, makes it extremely simple to onboard more people into the ecosystem. Plus, the Flow blockchain is battle-tested with the 1M+ users being onboarded to Web3 thanks to NBA Top Shot. The Flow blockchain can handle the scale that Doodles needs.
2. Cadence programming language
Without going too much into the technical specifics of the technology, the Cadence programming language allows for a different ownership model than Ethereum’s Solidity programming language. In a nutshell, this means that on the Flow blockchain, NFTs can conceptually “own” other NFTs. In the case of Doodles 2 NFTs, this means the wearables attached to a particular base Doodle 2 avatar, is actually “owned” by that avatar. These are really cool applications we can’t wait for you to experience.
3. Composability
Being able to continuously build products and grow the Flow ecosystem together is a huge benefit to the tech as a whole. As additional large brands adopt Flow and blockchain technology, more developers will build on Flow. It’s a snowball effect that will only accelerate with the Doodles Universe coming to Flow.
Next Steps On Gaia
On January 31st, the Dooplicator will launch for OG Doodles holders. Each Dooplicator will mint the first edition wearables for Doodles 2 avatars, and you will be able to buy, sell, and trade these wearables on Gaia.
We are honored and excited to partner with the Doodles brand to support their launch of Doodles 2. The future of Doodles is very bright, and the NFTG team is excited to be along for the ride!
